The office of Cook County State’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx confirmed that she has been working through “the technical and procedural questions of providing conviction relief” and is on track to expunge the convictions of low-level county marijuana offenders in the coming months. Mark Peysakhovich said he welcomes the expungement efforts, commenting on the war on drugs’ effect on communities of color, but warned that the clock is ticking.
