Booth’s Cannabis Markets Club Inaugural Conference

The Legal Cannabis Markets Club at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business was started to “to kindle the fire of conversation about Cannabis markets, and encourage students and the larger Booth community to pay more attention to this burgeoning industry.” The group’s April 2021 inaugural conference, themed “Understanding the Cannabis Landscape,” wrapped up with a panel discussion on equity in the cannabis industry, moderated by Mark Peysakhovich.

Understanding the Business and Politics of Cannabis

“What I am is kind of a plumber,” Mark tells Benjamin Douglas Ray, about the nature of what he actually does in his work. “When a public policy starts, it goes through a pipeline. There are steps and hoops and blockages. And generally what I do for my clients is go in and clear up the blockages in that pipeline to get the issue all the way to the other side.” Ray’s podcast focuses on the sustainable business, health and wellness, and leadership aspects of the cannabis industry.
